David Bai is a China-trained, licensed, and Ontario registered acupuncturist and general practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He obtained 8 years of comprehensive TCM trainings from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (formerly known as Hunan College of TCM) in Changsha, China. After earning his medical degree, David remained in China where he completed his TCM residency, and then worked as a TCM physician and instructor at the First Affliated Teaching Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine for many years.

David grew up in a medical family. Both his parents were medical doctors at a regional hospital in Southern China, where his father was a renowned cardiologist and director of the Internal Medicine Department, and his mother served as a chief physician for the Department of Infectious Diseases. This family background helped him get early exposure to medical terminology and a better understanding of the importance of high quality health-care services.

While pursuing his graduate degree on TCM, David passed the national examination for admission into a Master of TCM program and was lucky to be chosen to study gynecology and geriatric medicine under the supervision of late Professor Tan Riqiang, a well-known TCM internist, gynecologist, and the first President of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. During this period of specialized training, David had many face-to-face opportunities to observe and interact with Professor Tan, and grasped his many years of clinical experience in these fields, which had really enriched David's TCM diagnostic skills and therapeutic techniques for his future medical practice.

David moved to Canada in 1990. He also holds an M.A. in Applied Psychology from University of New Brunswick. Throughout his professional career, David Bai has published widely (in Chinese), and taught various courses of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, as well as Medical Psychology, to students of diverse background both in China and in Canada. He is the author or co-author of several Chinese TCM Textbooks, and a core founding member of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Physicians Association of Canada.
