THE FORMULA EXPLAINED

Promote digestion – Rhubarb (Da Huang) and Tangerine Peel (Chen Pi) relieve indigestion in order to support a healthy and well-functioning digestive tract.

Clear damp and heat – Excess dampness is due to deficiency in the Spleen and impaired digestion and can cause issues such as diarrhea or loose, sticky stool. Heat can manifest as thirst, sweating, or a burning sensation over the anus. Baikal Skullcap Root (Huang Qin) clears heat and dries dampness in the stomach and intestines to relief diarrhea and indigestion. Rhubarb (Da Huang) and Sophora Japonica Flower (Huai Hua) purge the heat from the large intestine. Tangerine Peel (Chen Pi) strengthens the Spleen to remove dampness, while Poria (Fu Ling) and Water Plantain Rhizome (Ze Xie) move dampness downwards to be released through urination.

Moisturize intestines – Peach Seed (Tao Ren) and  Chinese Angelica Root (Dang Gui) moisturize the large intestine and relax bowels in order to relive constipation.

Promote blood circulation – Moving and nourishing Blood is almost always TCM’s first step in treatment as blood is life! Peach Seed (Tao Ren) removes blood stasis and promotes blood circulation, while Chinese Angelica Root (Dang Gui) enriches and nourishes blood.
