THE FORMULA EXPLAINED
Balance Liver yang – Hypertension is mainly associated with the hyperactivity of Liver yang and blood deficiency. Fleeceflower Root (He Shou Wu), Common Self-Heal Fruit Spike (Xia Ku Cao), and Field Horsetail Plant (Mu Zei) tonify the Liver and clear Liver fire to calm Liver yang.
Nourish Blood – Another root cause of hypertension in the TCM view can be blood deficiency and stasis. Astragalus Root (Bei Qi), Fleeceflower Root (He Shou Wu), and Common Self-Heal Fruit Spike (Xia Ku Cao) tonify and nourish Blood while removing Blood stasis.
Lower Cholesterol – TCM views high cholesterol a result of stress, which can stagnate Liver Qi and cause excess fire; and poor diet, which can deplete the Spleen and Stomach causing dampness, phlegm, and a build-up of toxins. Fleeceflower Root (He Shou Wu), Common Self-Heal Fruit Spike (Xia Ku Cao), and Field Horsetail Plant (Mu Zei) clear Liver fire, and Astragalus Root (Bei Qi) supports the Spleen.
