THE FORMULA EXPLAINED
Support Immune System – Wei Qi is the “defensive” or “protective Qi, which acts as the first line of defence against external pathogens similar to the Western understanding of the immune system. The Lungs control and circulate this Wei Qi. Echinecea (Zi Zhu Hua) and Ashwagandha (Nan Fei Zui Jia) both support Wei Qi.
Enrich Qi and blood – Qi, one’s vital energy and Blood are inseparable. Qi moves blood and Blood nourishes the Qi, and the Lungs govern the movement and formation Qi. Healthy movement and nourishment of both Qi and Blood are important when recovering from illness. Astragalus Root (Bei Qi) and Reishi Mushroom (Ling Zhi) enriches and tonifies Qi and blood.
Respiratory infection support – Siberian Ginseng (Ci Wu Jia) and Echinacea (Zi Zhu Hua) promote respiratory health and support infection such as chronic bronchitis.
Clear heat and wind – Medlar (Pi Pa Ye) and Reishi Mushroom (Ling Zhi) clear Lung heat to eliminate phlegm and relieve coughing. Cat's Claw Plant (Gou Teng) and Echinacea (Zi Zhu Hua) expels wind- heat in order to relieve fever, headache, and congestion.
Stomach and Spleen Support – Often when we feel ill, our appetite or digestion may be compromised whether it be vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, or loss of appetite. Medlar (Pi Pa Ye) regulates Stomach heat by redirecting Lung Qi downwards to stop vomiting and relieves nausea. Siberian Ginseng (Ci Wu Jia) and Astragalus Root (Bei Qi) nourishes Spleen deficiency, which may present symptoms of poor appetite, diarrhea, and fatigue.
Nourish Heart – Sleep and proper rest are imperative to recovering from a cold. Reishi Mushroom (Ling Zhi) and Siberian Ginseng (Ci Wu Jia) tranquilize the mind and nourish the heart in order to help induce sleep and therefore aid in healing as restlessness and insomnia are seen as a symptoms of Heart deficiency in TCM.
Three times a day, one or two bags each time. Consistency is key!
